Bonus abuse
Bonus abuse is extracting value from promotions in ways the operator did not intend — multi-accounting, low-risk betting patterns that clear wagering cheaply, or coordinated group claiming.
The most common technique is not fraud but arbitrage: betting in ways that satisfy a wagering requirement while minimising exposure, for example covering both sides of a near-even bet. It works because bonus terms are easier to write than to test.
Defences are a mix of terms and tooling — maximum bet while a bonus is active, excluded games, device and payment fingerprinting to catch duplicate accounts. The platform side of this matters: a bonus engine that cannot enforce its own rules turns every promotion into a negotiation.
